Patna: On Friday, hundreds aspiring for ITI instructors staged a strong protest outside the Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) office in Patna. The candidates expressed their frustration over the delay in the release of results for a recruitment drive announced in 2023. According to the protesters, all examinations were concluded by April 24, 2024, yet the final results have not been declared.
Candidates Demand Immediate Action
Pooja Kumari, one of the protestors staging a sit-in outside the BTSC office, highlighted that the recruitment drive was for 2,210 posts in two categories: ITI and Degree Diploma. She stated, “The examinations were conducted between September 2023 and February 2024. Once, the result was released, and document verification was also carried out, but the result was later cancelled. Despite repeated demands, the results have not been republished.”
Kumari added that while 378 candidates in her ITI category have already been appointed, others, including her, are still awaiting results. She urged the commission to expedite the process and publish the final list so that appointments can be made promptly.
Long-Standing Struggle Since 2019
Candidate Ashutosh Raman recounted the lengthy fight that began in 2019 to have the vacancies released. “The High Court ordered the commission to issue the vacancies, which were eventually advertised in July 2023. However, despite the notification, the results remain incomplete,” he said.
Raman pointed out that results were announced for trades other than electricians, while those for electricians and Degree Diploma candidates remain pending. “This selective approach by the commission is unacceptable. It’s been nearly two years since the notification; we demand the results and appointments be finalised immediately.”
Degree Diploma Candidates Also Affected
Prakash Tiwari, a Degree Diploma candidate, revealed that out of the 2,210 posts, 1,280 were allocated to Degree Diploma candidates and 930 to ITI candidates. “We fought for years to get these vacancies released. It has been over a year since the exam, yet the commission has failed to release our results,” he lamented.
Tiwari also alleged that whenever candidates protest, the commission threatens to delay the results further. “We are tired of the delays and the uncertainty. Many of us are unemployed and depend on this appointment to secure our livelihoods,” he said.
The protesters collectively demanded that the BTSC immediately release the pending results and complete the appointment process without further delays.
