Patna: Senior officials of the Bihar government, including Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit and Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, publicly declared their assets on Tuesday, revealing notable disparities in personal wealth.
According to the disclosures, the Chief Secretary holds just ₹15,400 in cash, while his wife possesses assets worth several crores, making her significantly wealthier than him. He has approximately ₹5.5 lakh in bank deposits and ₹3.15 lakh invested in mutual funds. His assets also include a Maruti Esteem car and 20 grams of gold.
In terms of property, he owns 1.2 kattha 14 dhur of land in Muzaffarpur, shared with his siblings, and a 1,500 sq ft plot in Gurugram valued at ₹16.79 lakh.
Meanwhile, DGP Vinay Kumar has ₹32.55 lakh deposited in banks and reportedly keeps no cash on hand. His assets include gold worth around ₹25 lakh and silver valued at ₹1.15 lakh. He owns a Hyundai i10 and holds both agricultural and non-agricultural land. He also disclosed that he had purchased a flat in Noida’s Amrapali Sapphire using a loan of ₹44 lakh.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, has about ₹52,000 in cash and ₹10.09 lakh in bank accounts. His assets are limited to ancestral and non-agricultural land, with no commercial property. He has invested around ₹14.52 lakh in bonds and owns no private vehicle. He holds gold worth ₹4.84 lakh, while his wife owns gold valued at ₹37.25 lakh along with diamond jewellery worth ₹6.21 lakh.
Principal Secretary to the Governor, R. L. Chongthu, has approximately ₹3 lakh in his bank account, while his wife holds around ₹8 lakh. He has invested nearly ₹1.27 crore in a Public Provident Fund (PPF). His assets include vehicles such as a Maruti Ertiga, Maruti Brezza, and a Royal Enfield motorcycle.
Secretary to the Chief Minister, Anupam, holds only ₹5,000 in cash, while his total savings across bank accounts, PPF, and NPS stand at around ₹37 lakh. His wife, Pratima Satish Kumar Verma, has ₹25,000 in cash and about ₹36 lakh in bank and PPF accounts.
The disclosures, submitted online by top officials, indicate that while some officers maintain minimal cash holdings, their overall wealth is largely tied to bank deposits, investments, and family-held assets. Notably, the Chief Secretary’s wife was found to possess greater wealth than him, while the DGP reported holding no cash at all.
