Patna: Preparations are underway for the Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) elections in Patna district, with voting scheduled to begin on 26 November. This year, the election will be conducted in three phases across 609 polling stations, electing the managing executive committee, including the president, in 227 PACS.
District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh chaired a meeting with officials on Saturday, affirming the district administration’s readiness for the election. Voting is planned for 80 PACS on November 26, another 80 PACS on November 29, and the remaining 67 PACS on December 3. Approximately 3,57,260 voters are expected to participate across Patna district.
The DM has instructed all sub-divisional officers to inspect polling and counting centres and submit their reports. For effective management, 12 cells have been established to oversee various aspects, including personnel, vehicles, training, materials, expenditure monitoring, law and order, and media coordination.
Voting for PACS elections will be held in five phases on 26, 27, and 29 November, and on 1 and 3 December. Nomination dates for each phase are as follows: 11–13 November for the first phase, 13–16 November for the second, 16–18 November for the third, 17–18 November for the fourth, and 19–21 November for the fifth phase. Polling will take place from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, though in insurgency-affected areas, voting will conclude by 3:00 pm.
Counting of votes will occur on the voting day or the following day. The Election Commission has also issued the draft voter list for PACS, with objections open until 22 October, after which the final voter list will be published on 25 October.
