Patna: Patna District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh conducted a review on Tuesday of ongoing works related to the construction of the civil enclave at Bihta Airport and the expansion of Patna Airport. The DM assessed the progress of various initiatives, stating that 108 acres of land have already been allocated for Bihta Airport. The acquisition of an additional eight acres in Vishambarpur Mauja for the civil enclave is underway, with possession scheduled for December. Construction of the terminal building is set to begin on schedule. The Executive Engineer of the Minor Water Resources Department has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a drainage system within the civil enclave, which will be sent to the relevant authority to ensure proper drainage arrangements.
The DM further noted that an additional 190.50 acres of land is being sought for the runway expansion at Bihta Airport. A multi-member team is currently surveying the area and exploring potential land options. Once the team submits its report, it will be forwarded to the competent authority for further action, including technical surveys and assessments by the Airport Authority and the Air Force.
Progress on the Patna Airport expansion is also advancing. The allocation of 1.5 acres for the Meteorological Centre at Patna Airport is nearing completion. During the meeting, the Acting Director of the Civil Aviation Department, Patna Airport, provided a detailed agenda-wise report. The DM directed the Electrical Executive Engineer at Bihta to relocate the high-tension (HT) line traversing the acquired 108 acres and called for the road in Vishambarpur to be widened. Present at the meeting were Buidco MD Yogesh Kumar Sagar, Deputy Development Commissioner Sameer Saurabh, Patna Sadar, and Danapur SDO.
