Patna: In a key administrative move ahead of the new financial year, the Bihar Assembly has constituted 19 different committees following approval from Speaker Prem Kumar. Among the appointments, Mokama MLA Anant Singh has been inducted as a member of the Environment Protection and Pollution Control Committee.
Speaking to the media after being assigned the responsibility, Anant Singh appeared unaware of his new role. When asked about his plans regarding environmental issues, he candidly remarked, “I do not know anything about all this. I am not even aware of what I have been made or not made.” Known for his outspoken nature, his statement on camera has quickly drawn public attention.
Anant Singh was released from jail on March 23 in connection with the Dularchand murder case. Upon his release, a large crowd of supporters gathered outside, turning the moment into a show of strength. While Singh initially avoided interacting with the media, his supporters celebrated the occasion enthusiastically. Subsequently, he has addressed several issues before the media, including matters related to Bihar’s political leadership.
According to official information, the tenure of these 19 Bihar Assembly committees will run from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. Several leaders known for their strongman image have been included in these panels. Apart from Singh, MLA Manoranjan Singh, also known as Dhumal Singh, has been appointed Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee. Other prominent faces have also been included across various committees.
Notably, Singh’s induction into the Environment Protection and Pollution Control Committee, coupled with his admission of being unaware of the role, has triggered widespread discussion in political circles.
