Patna: Jharkhand secured a dominant eight-wicket victory over Bihar on the third day of the Cooch Behar Trophy match at the Moinul Haq Stadium on Friday. This win marked Jharkhand’s first success in the tournament, while Bihar is set to face Rajasthan in Patna from 28 December.
Bihar, batting first, scored 154 runs in their first innings. In reply, Jharkhand posted 189 runs, gaining a vital lead. Resuming their second innings at 80 for 5 on the third day, Bihar were dismissed for 121, setting Jharkhand a modest target of 87 runs to win.
Despite losing two early wickets, Jharkhand comfortably chased down the target, scoring 89 for 2 in 29.2 overs. Krish Sharma and Vivek Kumar guided their team to victory with unbeaten knocks of 40 and 37 runs, respectively.
Bihar’s second innings saw Deepesh Gupta contribute 30 runs and Gautam Kumar add 26, while the rest of the batting lineup struggled against Jharkhand’s disciplined bowling. Tanish and Ishan Om were the standout performers for Jharkhand, taking five wickets each across the match.
For Bihar, Aditya Raj delivered a commendable bowling performance, claiming two wickets for 26 runs in Jharkhand’s second innings and finishing with a match haul of seven wickets. However, his efforts were not enough to prevent a Jharkhand win.
