Patna: Out of the four assembly seats in Bihar where by-elections are scheduled, the Jan Suraaj Party had previously announced its candidates for three constituencies. Now, the party has revealed its candidate for the Ramgarh seat. Jan Suraaj Acting President Manoj Bharti, while addressing a gathering in Kaimur, announced that Sushil Singh Kushwaha would be the official candidate for the Ramgarh constituency.
Sushil Singh Kushwaha, the Jan Suraaj candidate for Ramgarh, is recognised as a grassroots leader with strong influence among the local population. In 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha elections from Buxar on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket, securing 80,000 votes. He has also served as the state general secretary of the BSP.
Earlier, political strategist Prashant Kishor had announced the names of the party’s candidates for three other constituencies. In Patna, alongside Acting President Manoj Bharti, Kishor introduced retired army officer SK Singh as the candidate for the Tarari seat. In Gaya, Khilafat Hussain was declared the candidate for the Belaganj seat, and Dr Jitendra Paswan was selected for the Imamganj seat.
With the entry of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, it is anticipated that the contest in all four constituencies will become triangular. In the Ramgarh seat, Sushil Singh Kushwaha will face Ajit Kumar Singh of the RJD, while the BJP has fielded Ashok Singh. The by-election is being held due to the resignation of Sudhakar Singh, who vacated the seat after being elected as a Member of Parliament. Voting is scheduled for 13th November, with the results to be declared on the 23rd.
