Gaya to Host Yonex-Sunrise East Zone Badminton Championship 2024 from September  5

Patna: The Yonex-Sunrise East Zone Inter-State Team and Individual Badminton Championship 2024 is set to take place from 5th to 8th September at the Lord Buddha Badminton Academy, situated within the premises of Delhi Public School in Gaya.

KN Jaiswal, Secretary of the Bihar Badminton Association and the tournament’s Organising Secretary, announced that state teams from West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttarakhand, and Bihar will participate in this prestigious four-day event.

The championship will commence with men’s and women’s team events over the first two days, followed by individual competitions. Besides the senior teams, junior boys and girls from all East Zone states will also compete for titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events.

Jaiswal confirmed that a total of 10 events will be held during the championship. He also highlighted Bihar’s previous success, with the state securing bronze medals in the junior boys’ team event and junior boys’ doubles at last year’s championship in Kolkata.

The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has appointed Chanderkant Sharma from Rajasthan as the referee for the tournament. Vikash Sijuar has been appointed as the joint Organising Secretary.

In preparation for the event, a coaching camp for Bihar players began today at the Lord Buddha Badminton Academy in Gaya and Gandhi Maidan hall. A total of 24 players are participating in the camp.
