Patna: The Excise and Prohibition Department team recovered 586 bottles of English liquor and beer from a pickup van near the Karamlichak Toll Plaza in the Bypass Police Station area. The estimated value of the seized liquor exceeds ₹2 lakh. Acting on a tip-off, the authorities arrested the driver during the raid.
Assistant Commissioner of the Excise Department, Prem Prakash, stated that the operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Prohibition Kulwant Kumar. While patrolling the area, the team noticed the driver of the van acting suspiciously. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered liquor concealed inside two large plastic pipes and a tank-like plastic container.
The arrested driver, Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Sabalpur under Nadi Police Station, is now in custody. The confiscated liquor, reportedly manufactured in West Bengal, has an estimated market value of ₹2 lakh.
Liquor Hidden in Garbage Heap Recovered, Two Arrested
In a separate raid, the Excise and Prohibition Department recovered 439 bottles of English liquor hidden in a garbage heap in Professor Colony, Musallahpur Haat, under the Sultanganj Police Station area.
Assistant Commissioner Prem Prakash confirmed that the operation, conducted based on secret information, led to the arrest of two individuals. The accused were identified as Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Professor Colony, and Kishore, a resident of Nandnagar Colony under Bahadurpur Police Station.
The department continues its vigilant efforts to curb illegal liquor trade in the state.
