Patna: The much-anticipated final of Bihar’s 38th All India Sukhdeo Narain Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament will take place on October 30, featuring a day-night showdown between Dony Polo Public School and SDV Public School. Hosted under floodlights at Patna’s Urja Stadium, the match will be played on a turf wicket, according to Rohit Jain, Chairman of the Tournament Committee.
The Organising Secretary, Bijoy Kumar Narain Chunnu, announced that the final match will commence at 4:30 pm. In a gesture of unity and environmental consciousness, players and guests from both teams will receive saplings to plant in the name of the nation. State umpires Neeraj Kumar and Atendra Kumar will officiate, ensuring a professional standard for the highly awaited match. For the fifth consecutive year, the young cricketers will have the thrilling experience of playing under floodlights. The teams will be provided with colourful kits free of charge by the Tournament Committee, with the match to be played using a white ball. The event promises a vibrant atmosphere, with drumbeats and fireworks adding to the spectacle.
Chunnu shared that the final match will bring an IPL-like experience to the youth players. Doordarshan will record and broadcast the event, while Suresh Mishra and Vinay Kumar will deliver a live broadcast on YouTube and the Purbiya Channel. Scoring for the game, both online and offline, will be managed by Priyanshu and Sachin, while live commentary will be provided by Mritunjay Jha and Sandeep. The final will feature 20 overs per side.
A series of special awards will mark the occasion. Notably, Anjali Kumari, a celebrated women’s hockey player who has brought honour to Bihar, will receive the Prabha Devi Memorial Award. Rising cricket star Parth from Divine International School will be awarded the J P Srivastava Memorial Award, Arman Ahmed from New B D Public School will receive the Tilak Raj Gandhi Award, Yash Raj from Cambridge Public School will be honoured with the Kamala Sharan Singh Award, and Piyush Kumar from Dony Polo will be given the Naresh Kumar Sinha Award.
For their exceptional contributions to the match, Mritunjay Jha will receive the Indu Narayan Memorial Award for commentary, while Sandeep will be awarded the Sheela Sinha Memorial Award. Following the match, a prize distribution ceremony will celebrate the winners, runners-up, umpires, scorers, officials, commentators, and groundsmen, with numerous dignitaries and community members in attendance.
The tournament’s prestigious awards include the Shaligram Prasad Singh Memorial Award for the winning and runner-up teams, presented as trolley bags, the Shyam Nandan Prasad Memorial Award for the Man of the Series, the Madhava Nand Sahay Memorial Award for the best batsman, the Ashok Agarwal Memorial Award for the best bowler, the Madan Mohan Prasad Memorial Award for the Man of the Match, the Naresh Kumar Sinha Memorial Award for the umpire, and the Dr. Ajay Bhagat Award for the scorer.
