Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday visited Saran district under the ‘Samriddhi Yatra’, announcing development projects worth over ₹540 crore for the region.
Addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister said that since assuming office, his government has been working continuously, the results of which are now visible across Bihar. He stated that the state is progressing in every sector and reiterated the government’s commitment to provide employment to one crore unemployed youths over the next five years.
In Chapra, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 45 projects worth ₹451 crore, while 24 projects costing ₹87 crore were formally inaugurated. He also inspected the Jeevika stitching centre in Chapra Sadar along with departmental stalls. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary accompanied him.
Emphasising the government’s priorities, Nitish Kumar said education and healthcare remain at the forefront of the state’s agenda. New schools, colleges and hospitals are being established continuously, while facilities are being created to support youth from education to employment. He added that women are being encouraged through Jeevika and other schemes by providing jobs and livelihood opportunities.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that Bihar would soon join the ranks of the country’s developed states, urging public cooperation to achieve this goal. “Development work has been carried out in every sector. Only a few states are ahead today, but Bihar will move far ahead,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that all closed sugar mills in Bihar would be revived. He said large-scale industries are being set up so that people do not have to migrate outside the state for employment. The government’s priority, he added, is to ensure job opportunities for youths within Bihar itself.
The Deputy Chief Minister said Bihar has implemented one of the country’s most investor-friendly industrial policies. Land is being provided for industries at a nominal cost of one rupee, while loans are being sanctioned within 15 days. He claimed that industries ranging from manufacturing units to semiconductor factories are now being established in the state. He also announced the construction of an airport in Chapra, which is expected to improve connectivity in Saran and neighbouring districts, boosting trade and tourism.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister arrived at Chapra airport and proceeded directly to the Chapra Sadar office for inspection. He also reviewed the stitching centre before travelling via the Bansewa air route to the public meeting venue near Chapra Junction. After inspecting the women’s ITI, he addressed the gathering at the ground of the newly constructed bus stand in Chapra.
