Patna: The security of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) [LJP (Ram Vilas)] national president and Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, has been enhanced. The Union Home Ministry has upgraded his security to Z category protection.

LJP (Ram Vilas) state president, Raju Tiwari, confirmed that Chirag Paswan, who is currently in France on official duty, has been provided with Z category security. Chirag Paswan had already been granted Z category protection by the Bihar government after his return to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Z category security entails a total of 33 security personnel. Of these, 10 are stationed at the VIP’s residence, armed and on duty. Six commandos accompany the individual, while three specially trained drivers are always available. In addition, there are 12 I-escort commandos working in three shifts, and two commandos are assigned to a separate watchers’ shift.

Chirag Paswan is currently in Dijon, France, representing India at the 45th World Wine and Drink Conference. His security upgrade comes in the wake of an incident in which a statue of his father, Ram Vilas Paswan, was vandalised. On Saturday night, unidentified individuals damaged the statue, and party leaders have since filed a case in Neemchak Bathani.
