Patna, May 18, 2024: Delhi Public School, Patna East, proudly hosted the Checkmate 2024 inter-school chess competition, a prestigious two-day event held on May 17-18, 2024. The competition brought together over seven schools from Patna, creating a platform for intellectual engagement and friendly competition.
The program commenced with a warm welcome by the school’s Principal, Dr. Rakesh Alfred, alongside Deputy Head Mr. Ashfaque Iqbal and Coordinator Ms. Sangeeta Rajhans. This was followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The event also featured vibrant performances, including welcome songs, a western band, and dance routines, which energized and motivated the participants.
Trinity Global School secured the first position in the tournament, demonstrating exceptional skill and strategy. Litera Valley School emerged as the first runner-up, while Delhi Public School, Patna East, proudly claimed the second runner-up position.
From Delhi Public School, Patna East, Medant of 4D earned a Bronze medal in the under-9 boys’ category, and Ananya Pandey of 9A secured a Bronze medal in the under-14 girls’ category, showcasing remarkable talent and dedication.
The objective of Checkmate 2024 was to promote the importance of chess, stimulate students’ cognitive abilities, and provide a platform for interaction and knowledge exchange among students from different schools. This initiative aimed to foster self-respect, self-analysis, and contribute to the holistic development of the participants.
