Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Sandeep Kumar, a medical student from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, in connection with the NEET paper leak case. Sandeep has been detained on charges of solving the exam paper prior to the test. He was apprehended in Patna after admitting his involvement during questioning at the CBI office.
So far, the CBI has arrested nine MBBS students in this case. Sandeep was produced before Special Judicial Magistrate Kumari Rinku at the Patna Civil Court, where the CBI requested a seven-day remand but was granted a five-day remand instead.
According to sources, Sandeep, along with other medical students, solved the NEET question paper before the May 5 exam in Hazaribagh. The Sanjeev Mukhiya gang, led by Rocky and other mafias, distributed the solved paper to candidates in Bihar and Jharkhand.
Investigations have revealed that Sanjeev Mukhiya and Rocky called students from various medical colleges, including Patna AIIMS, Ranchi RIMS, Mumbai, Bharatpur, and Bhilwara, to Hazaribagh to solve the question paper. The CBI suspects more medical students are involved and continues to probe the case.
Previously, the CBI arrested two students, Amit and Aman, who managed operations in Jharkhand under Rocky’s direction. In Patna, Chintu, Nitish, and Amit Anand were responsible for the local management.
Sources indicate that Sanjeev Mukhiya, the mastermind behind the NEET paper leak, is linked to Rajasthan’s exam mafia leader Balram Gurjar. Their long-standing association and past fraudulent activities suggest a wider network, possibly involving Rajasthan medical college students.
The investigation is ongoing, with further arrests anticipated. The primary suspect, Sanjeev Mukhiya, remains at large as the CBI intensifies efforts to apprehend him.
