Patna: Bihar’s star women cricketer Swarnima Chakraborty has received a sponsored cricket kit from Bishop Scott Senior Secondary Girls School, Patna. In a simple ceremony held on Tuesday at the school premises, Dr. Shalini Singh, Directors Abhishek Singh, Achyut KR Singh, Nutan Singh, Mrigaya Singh, and Principal Vishakha Sinha of the Bishop Scott Group of Schools presented the kit to Swarnima and wished her a successful sports career and life.
Swarnima Chakraborty’s cricket and sports career has been impressive so far. She has represented Bihar in the Bihar State Under-19 Women’s Team, Bihar Under-23 Team, and the Senior State Women’s Cricket Team for BCCI tournaments. Currently, she is also captaining the State Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team for the School Games Federation of India’s national tournament. Her performance in the recently held Patna District Women’s Cricket League was excellent, where she also led a team.
Swarnima has won multiple awards, including Player of the Match, Player of the Series, and Best Batter in various registered tournaments. In addition to cricket, she plays squash and is currently the Bihar champion in the Under-19 category.
Swarnima, a class XII student at Bishop Scott Girls School, expressed her gratitude for the honor, stating, “This honor will inspire me to play even better. I am thankful to my school.”
Principal Vishakha Sinha and all the directors expressed hope that Swarnima will make a name for herself in the world of sports. They assured that any student of Bishop Scott involved in any sport would receive all possible support from the school. They emphasized that the Bishop Scott Group of Schools excels not only in academics but also encourages students to pursue other fields, including sports.
