Patna: Bihar’s rising cricket star, Pritam Raj, has achieved an extraordinary milestone in this season’s Vijay Merchant Trophy U16. The young batsman became the first player to score an unbeaten 304 runs in an innings of the tournament, marking the highest individual score in its history. Pritam’s remarkable feat also makes him the second batsman to achieve over 300 unbeaten runs and the third to cross the 300-run mark in a single innings.

Facing Arunachal Pradesh, Pritam delivered a sensational performance, scoring 304 not out off 277 balls. His innings included 7 sixes and 44 fours, setting a new career-high. The previous record was held by Yashvardhan Singh Chauhan. Representing the Bihar Cricket Association, Pritam’s triple century has placed him at the top of the leaderboard for most runs scored in an innings in the BCCI’s domestic Vijay Merchant Trophy U16. He also holds the distinction of hitting the most sixes by an unbeaten triple-centurion. This season, he ranks second for unbeaten triple centuries and second for the most fours in an innings.
Pritam’s impact extends beyond batting. He ranks 11th among the top 100 players for most runs scored in the tournament, 13th for the highest strike rate of 87.74, 23rd for the highest strike rate in an innings, 15th for best economy in an innings, and 12th for highest batting average.
In bowling, Pritam has also showcased his skills, taking 11 wickets in five matches. He ranks 9th for best bowling average and economy and 6th for strike rate, highlighting his prowess as an all-rounder.
A Star in the Making at Just 13 Years Old
At only 13 years and six months, Pritam’s stellar innings, played at a strike rate of 107.74, has captured the nation’s attention. Born on 4 June 2010 in Kanchanwa village, Gaya district, Pritam is the son of Prem Kant Mehta, a constable in the Bihar Police. He is the only son in his family, with two younger sisters.
