Gopalganj: Maharashtra claimed the championship title in both the junior and sub-junior categories of the Asmita Khelo India Women’s Kho-Kho League, held on Monday at the Minj Stadium. Delhi secured the runner-up position in both categories, while Bihar shared third place in both. Additionally, Karnataka finished third in the sub-junior category, and Madhya Pradesh achieved third place in the junior category.
Prize Distribution
The victorious teams in both categories were awarded ₹2.75 lakh each. The runner-up teams received ₹1.75 lakh each, while the teams that shared third place were given ₹75,000 each.
Sub-Junior Category Final
In the sub-junior final, Maharashtra faced Delhi in a fiercely contested match. Maharashtra emerged victorious with a score of 31-24. Tamakhade Sarwani R contributed significantly to Maharashtra’s win, scoring 6 points through tackles and spending 2 minutes in defence. Rahi Patil Utkarsh added 4 points with her tackles. Tamakhade Sarwani R also spent 2 minutes 20 seconds on the court, preventing the opposition from scoring.
Delhi’s Muskan put up a commendable performance, scoring 10 points and spending 1.50 minutes on the court. Muskan was named Best Attacker, while Maharashtra’s Tamakhade Sarwani R earned the title of Best Defender.
Junior Category Final
In the junior category final, Maharashtra defeated Delhi decisively with a score of 43-10. Dotre S Bharat led the charge, scoring 20 points single-handedly. Ar Lamkane Sneha Anil added 2 points and thwarted Delhi’s attackers by spending 4 minutes 10 seconds on the court. From Delhi’s side, Savita scored 4 points and spent 1 minute 10 seconds on the court. Suhani from Maharashtra was awarded Best Attacker.
Awards and Honours
The players were presented with medals, trophies, and certificates by Gopalganj District Magistrate Prashant Kumar CH, Kho-Kho Association of Bihar General Secretary Neeraj Kumar Pappu, District Sports Officer Abdul Rashid, Kho-Kho Federation of India representative Sanjeev Kumar Mishra, and other dignitaries.
Special Recognition
On this occasion, technical officials were honoured with mementoes. Among the attendees were Sub-Election Officer Sushant Kumar, Sports Teacher Rajiv Kumar Singh, Adarsh Puri, Praveen Shahi, Vivekanand Kumar, Dr. Raman Kumar, Dinesh Prasad, and Basant Kumar.
The event, organised under the joint aegis of the Bihar State Sports Authority and Kho-Kho Association of Bihar, with support from the Union Sports Ministry and the Sports Authority of India, showcased exceptional talent and sportsmanship.
