Patna: Bihar Agriculture Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, has announced that the popular “Mango Festival 2026”, dedicated to the king of fruits grown in the state’s aromatic soil, will be held from June 19 to June 21, 2026 at the Bihar Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (BAMETI) campus in Patna. The event is being organised by the Directorate of Horticulture under the Agriculture Department, Government of Bihar.
The minister stated that the primary objective of the festival is to provide a common platform for farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, traders and exporters. The initiative aims to promote the use of modern technologies in horticulture, improve quality production, and strengthen processing, marketing and export opportunities. This, he noted, would enable farmers across the state to significantly enhance their income by adopting horticulture practices.
Bihar is among the leading mango-producing states in India. Mango cultivation is carried out across approximately 1.64 lakh hectares in the state, with an annual production of around 15.84 lakh metric tonnes. The state is known for its distinctive mango varieties from different regions, including Jardalu from Bhagalpur, Digha Malda from Patna, Krishnabhog from Madhubani, Gulabkhas from Supaul, Bambaiya from Sitamarhi, Chausa from Buxar, Chursa Malda from Munger, Kalkatia from Darbhanga, and Jarda from West Champaran.

The event will feature live demonstrations of modern technologies. A special highlight will be a live demonstration of the Plantix App, which helps farmers identify pests and diseases in mango crops, providing timely diagnosis and solutions.
Visitors will also experience smart horticulture powered by IoT and immersive AR/VR technologies, offering a realistic simulation of mango orchards through integrated sensory elements such as visuals, aroma and environment.
For entertainment, a special “Eat Mango, Win Prizes” competition will be organised for children and families, giving participants a chance to win attractive rewards.
An agricultural quiz competition will also be conducted for students from agricultural universities and educational institutions, aimed at enhancing their knowledge.
A buyer–seller meet will provide farmers with a direct opportunity to connect with large national-level traders and exporters, helping them access better markets for their produce.
Visitors to the festival will be able to enjoy and purchase a wide variety of fresh and delicious mangoes.
The Agriculture Department of Bihar has extended an open invitation to farmers, entrepreneurs, scientists, students and the general public to participate in Mango Festival 2026.
