Bihar Strengthens Cyber Crime Control with Advanced Core Network for 44 Cyber Police Stations

By Neeraj Kumar

Patna: Preparations are in full swing to tackle the rising cyber crime in Bihar, with all 44 cyber police stations being linked through a modern core network. A specialised portal is in development under an agreement with the Patna unit of the C-DAC Institute to create this advanced networking system. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of cyber crime detection and tracking, making it easier to catch cyber criminals operating in the digital world.

In addition to connecting all police stations, the network will be directly linked to the Economic Offenses Unit’s (EOU) Cyber Core Centre, enabling real-time monitoring of cyber crimes across the state. With improved coordination among cyber police stations, the system will allow easy sharing of criminal records, simplifying efforts to arrest those involved in cyber crimes.

Once the system is ready, it will undergo a trial phase before full implementation, which is expected by the end of the current financial year.

Cyber criminals frequently change their locations or IP addresses using advanced technology, making it difficult to trace them. Fraud via internet calls is also common, and traditional methods often struggle to track such activities. However, this new portal will enable precise tracking of mobile numbers and IP addresses used for fraudulent purposes.

Manavjit Singh Dhillon, DIG of EOU, explained that the new system will be distinct from the existing Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) and is designed specifically for cyber police stations. It will provide detailed information on pending cases and their status in each station, significantly improving cyber crime control efforts across Bihar.
