Patna: The Bihar government has announced a major update for BPSC teachers, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s administration approving the transfer posting policy for teachers in the state. Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar revealed this development during a press conference.
Minister Sunil Kumar stated that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar aims to create a policy that maximises satisfaction among teachers. The policy was designed with their challenges in mind. BPSC and other long-serving teachers are eligible to submit applications, and they will be provided with ten options. Efforts have been made to ensure teachers remain within their own districts.
Priority will be given to teachers with serious illnesses, disabilities, or mental health issues. Consideration has also been extended to women who are widows or single. The Education Minister expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for initiating the policy.
The Education Minister further mentioned that the joining process would commence in December. Committees have been established at both the district and divisional levels to review the policy. Views from all parties were considered. He emphasised the importance of discipline among teachers, noting its benefits.
The policy aims to enhance the quality of education in Bihar. Teachers will now receive facilities similar to those provided to other government employees. A separate committee, formed at the management department level in each district, will address any issues related to the transfer policy from the education department.
Sunil Kumar also highlighted that the education department is serious about addressing issues related to married teacher couples. Applications for transfers will be invited soon, with the development of the necessary software underway. Additionally, the results of the Sakshamta 2 exam will be announced soon, and the roster for the Tre3 exam has been finalised.
After a wait of nearly three months, the transfer posting policy has been approved, bringing relief to BPSC teachers who have long advocated for it. The policy’s approval is seen as a festive gift for teachers ahead of Durga Puja and Diwali.
Recently, Sunil Kumar indicated that the matter was in its final stage and that a decision was imminent. He assured that the policy would be implemented before 30th September.
This new transfer policy is expected to benefit many families, particularly teacher couples, women, and those with disabilities or severe health conditions. Priority will be given to teacher couples under the policy. Now, 1.87 lakh employed teachers who have passed the capability exam will be eligible for transfer. There is also a consensus on the transfer posting policy for BPSC teachers.
The Education Department’s policy will impact over one lakh teachers. Women and disabled teachers will have the opportunity to be transferred to their desired locations, but they must apply online. Only employed teachers with a minimum of three years of service, no disciplinary actions, and verified certificates will be eligible.
