Bihar Deputy CM Defends Law and Order Amid Mokama Firing Controversy

By Neeraj Kumar
Patna: As the opposition raises concerns about law and order following two firing incidents in Mokama, Patna district, on Wednesday and Friday, the ruling party has strongly defended the state government’s actions. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha assured the public that the government is committed to upholding the rule of law and will not spare those who violate it.

Speaking to journalists in Patna, Sinha stated, “The government is working vigilantly to establish the rule of law. Even minor incidents are being monitored, and the administration is performing its duties with honesty. Those who break the law will face strict action.”

Responding to opposition criticism over the Mokama firing incidents, Minister Lesy Singh reminded them of their own tenure. She said, “The opposition should recall their time in power. Today, there is a rule of law, and the police are doing their job. The people of Bihar remember what used to happen during their governance. Legal action will be taken against anyone, regardless of who they are.”

Former Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav also weighed in, stating, “The opposition should remember the era when they were in power. Back then, the situation was far worse. Now, if anyone takes the law into their own hands, strict action is taken. Such acts will not be tolerated.”

The firing incidents in Mokama have drawn significant attention. On Friday, shots were fired at the house of Mukesh Singh in Hemja village under Panchmahala police station. The incident followed an FIR lodged by Singh the previous day, stemming from a dispute over unlocking a house. A similar firing incident had occurred on Wednesday in the same area.

Police have reached the scene and are conducting an investigation. The state government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that justice is served.
