Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the four-day state-level agricultural fair, Agro Bihar-2024, at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Speaking to reporters, he reflected on the strides made in Bihar’s agricultural sector since his government assumed power in 2005, crediting initiatives such as the agriculture roadmap introduced in 2006.
Nitish Kumar emphasised his administration’s focus on continuous development, stating, “No work was done earlier. We have been working for the progress of Bihar since we came to power, and this will continue.” Addressing opposition criticism regarding smart meters, the Chief Minister dismissed the concerns, affirming, “The smart meters are functioning properly.”
He also highlighted the significance of the agricultural machinery fair, which his government initiated. “Farmers are now receiving agricultural equipment at affordable rates, with subsidies provided by the Bihar government. People should not forget the work we have done,” he added.
Empowering Farmers with Modern Technology
Nitish Kumar stressed the fair’s objective to familiarise farmers with modern agricultural tools and techniques, aiming to enhance productivity and efficiency. He remarked, “Such fairs are organised to educate farmers about advanced equipment and practices. This year’s event is bigger than ever, ensuring farmers receive maximum information and support.”
Women’s participation in agriculture and other fields was another highlight. Taking a moment to jest with journalists, he said, “You are young, which is why you may not notice, but women are doing exceptionally well in every field.”
