Bihar Sharif, June 5: Owing to the brilliant performances of Ankit Kumar (5 wickets) and Mohit Kumar (91 runs), Nalanda defeated Jehanabad by 2 wickets in the Shyamal Sinha Inter District Under-16 Cricket Tournament, Magadh Zone, on Wednesday.
Winning the toss and batting first in the match played at the local Nalanda Cricket Ground, Jehanabad scored 224 runs in 39.5 overs, losing 10 wickets.
For Jehanabad, Sunny Giri contributed 59 runs, Anukul Kumar 65, Raj Kamal 32, Kumar Shan 19, and Prince Kumar 15 runs.
For Nalanda, Ankit Kumar took 5 wickets, Vineet Kumar 2, and Mohit Kumar and Shivam each took one wicket.
In reply, Nalanda achieved the target by losing 8 wickets in 40 overs with the help of Mohit’s half-century, scoring 91 runs.
Mohit scored 91 runs in 87 balls with the help of 13 fours and 1 six. Apart from Mohit, Lakshya Prakash contributed 44 runs, Vineet Kumar scored 21 runs, Neeraj Kumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 21 runs, and Raj Guru contributed 14 runs.
Jehanabad bowler Prince Thakur took 4 wickets, while Aditya Nath Singh, Raj Kamal, and Kumar Shan each took one wicket.
Nalanda’s Ankit Kumar (five wickets) and Mohit Kumar (91 runs and one wicket) were jointly given the Man of the Match award.
