Patna: Gopalganj secured a place in the final of the BCA Men’s Under-23 One-Day Trophy 2025–26 with a convincing five-wicket victory over Begusarai in the second semi-final at Moinul Haq Stadium, Patna. The match was briefly interrupted by rain, after which the result was decided under the VJD method.
After winning the toss, Begusarai opted to bat first and managed 107 for 6 in 26 overs. Pushpam Raj top-scored with 27 runs, while Shivam Raj added 22. Captain Prithviraj contributed 16, and Yuvraj Yadav chipped in with 14. The rest of the batting line-up failed to reach double figures, preventing the side from posting a competitive total.
For Gopalganj, Mehendi Abdullah delivered an impressive spell, claiming three wickets for 15 runs in five overs. Prashant Kumar picked up two wickets, while Amjad Ali took one, keeping the opposition under control throughout.
In reply, Gopalganj produced a composed batting performance to chase down the revised target comfortably. The team reached 116 for 5 in 18.2 overs. Captain Aryan Raj led from the front with 35 runs, while Prashant Kumar contributed a crucial 44. Ankit Yadav (12) and Sujay Sharma (10) also made valuable contributions.
Ayush Kumar was the pick of the bowlers for Begusarai, taking three wickets for 24 runs in five overs. Harsh Verma and skipper Prithviraj claimed one wicket each.
With this victory, Gopalganj have advanced to the final, where they will face Bhojpur on April 10, 2026 at the Moinul Haq Stadium.
The revised target of 116 runs in 24 overs, set under the VJD method due to rain interruption, was achieved comfortably by Gopalganj with five wickets in hand.
