Patna: In the Under-23 One-Day Trophy tournament organised by the Bihar Cricket Association, Siwan secured a convincing 41-run victory over East Champaran at Moinul Haq Stadium, continuing their impressive campaign.
Batting first, Siwan were bowled out for 215 runs in 45.2 overs. Mayank Kumar played a crucial innings of 87 off 80 balls, striking 10 fours and three sixes. Faheem Anwar contributed 43 runs, while Ankit Chaudhary added 23. Though the remaining batters failed to make significant contributions, these efforts helped Siwan post a competitive total.
For East Champaran, Manikant led the bowling attack with four wickets for 51 runs in 9.2 overs. Ejaz and Ashutosh claimed two wickets each, while skipper Vivek Kumar chipped in with one wicket to keep their side in contention.
Chasing a target of 216, East Champaran were dismissed for 174 in 37.2 overs. Karan Kumar top-scored with 45 runs, followed by Manikant with 36 and Navneet Kumar with 22. However, the rest of the batting line-up failed to build substantial partnerships, falling short of the target.
Siwan’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Hani Kumar Singh taking four wickets for 31 runs in his 10 overs. Aniket Chaudhary picked up three wickets for 35 runs in 7.2 overs, while Mayank Kumar claimed two wickets and Haider Ali added one to his tally.
Maintaining consistent pressure with regular breakthroughs, Siwan’s bowlers ensured control over the match and sealed a well-deserved victory.
