Patna: A sensational incident has once again surfaced in Bihar Capital Patna after a bomb threat targeting the Bihar Legislative Assembly sent shockwaves through the administration and security agencies. According to officials, an email threatening to blow up the Assembly building prompted immediate action from authorities.
As soon as the threatening email was received, the police and security agencies went on high alert and launched an urgent investigation. All individuals present inside the Assembly premises were instructed to vacate the building as a precautionary measure. Police from the Secretariat police station rushed to the spot and tightened security across the entire Assembly complex.
A dog squad and bomb disposal unit were also deployed to conduct an intensive search operation. Security personnel are thoroughly scanning the Assembly premises and surrounding areas to detect any suspicious objects.
Confirming the development, Secretariat DSP Dr Annu said the bomb threat was received via email and that police teams immediately began an investigation upon receiving the information. The dog squad and bomb disposal unit are currently examining the entire premises, she said, adding that the situation remains fully under control and all necessary security measures are being taken.
Following the threat, security arrangements in and around the Assembly complex have been further strengthened. Additional police teams have been deployed, and strict checks are being conducted on people entering and leaving the premises. Meanwhile, a cyber team has also begun efforts to identify the person responsible for sending the threatening email.
The Bihar Legislative Assembly Secretariat has issued an official press statement on the matter. It stated that the threatening email was received earlier in the day, after which Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar immediately took cognisance and convened a meeting with senior officials of the Secretariat. The Speaker directed In-charge Secretary Khyati Singh to inform the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police and ensure that a prompt security inspection of the Assembly premises is carried out.
In recent times, similar threats have been reported in Bihar. Earlier, bomb threats were also issued targeting the Patna Civil Court and Patna Junction railway station. Although several of those threats later turned out to be hoaxes, security agencies continue to treat every such warning with utmost seriousness and remain fully vigilant.
For now, police and security agencies are carrying out a detailed investigation to determine the origin of the email and identify those responsible. Security arrangements in and around the Assembly complex have also been tightened as a precautionary measure.
