Patna: Bihar produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Manipur by a massive 568 runs in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group final at the Moinul Haq Stadium here, sealing the title in emphatic fashion.
In the four-day summit clash, Bihar maintained complete control from start to finish, excelling in both batting and bowling to register a comprehensive and one-sided triumph.
Batting first, Bihar piled up an imposing 522 in their first innings. Manipur, in reply, were bundled out for 264, handing Bihar a substantial first-innings lead. Continuing their authority, Bihar declared their second innings at 505 for six in 119.3 overs.
Piyush Kumar Singh was the standout performer, hammering an unbeaten 216 to take the match beyond Manipur’s reach. He was well supported by the middle order, with Khalid contributing 81, Bipin Saurabh 52 and Pratap scoring a fluent 90.

Chasing an improbable target of 763 runs, Manipur collapsed in their second innings and were dismissed for 195 in 56.1 overs.
For Bihar, Suraj Kashyap and Himanshu Singh picked up three wickets apiece, while Prashant Kumar Singh claimed two. Akash Raj and Pratap chipped in with one wicket each, maintaining sustained pressure on the opposition batters.
Following the conclusion of the match, an awards and trophy presentation ceremony was held in the presence of Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) office-bearers. BCA Secretary Ziaul Arfeen felicitated the players of both teams, match officials and the referee before presenting the trophy to the victorious Bihar side.
BCA President Harshvardhan hailed the team’s achievement, saying, “Bihar have displayed discipline and consistency throughout the tournament, which culminated in a decisive victory in the final. I congratulate the players and the support staff on this remarkable achievement.”

Secretary Ziaul Arfeen described the title as a landmark moment for cricket in the state. “Winning the Ranji Trophy Plate Group is a significant milestone for Bihar cricket. The success reflects the players’ hard work, effective planning by the team management and the invaluable contribution of the coaching staff,” he said, expressing hope for similar performances in the future.
He also congratulated the entire support staff, including team manager Nandan Singh, head coach Vinayak Samant, assistant coaches Sanjay Kumar and Kumar Mridul, physiotherapist Dr Hemendu, and strength and conditioning coach Gopal, acknowledging their vital role in the team’s success.
With this historic win, Bihar lifted the Ranji Trophy Plate Group title, bringing a rewarding close to a season marked by collective effort and consistent performances.
