Patna: Bihar produced a composed and well-controlled all-round performance to register a commanding 10-wicket victory over Sikkim in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy Plate Under-23 multi-day match played at the Sovima Cricket Ground.
In the four-day encounter, Bihar maintained balance across all departments and remained firmly in control throughout the contest.
Batting first, Sikkim struggled against disciplined bowling and were dismissed for 122. In reply Bihar were bowled out for 196 in their first innings. Sikkim managed 173 in their second innings, leaving Bihar a modest target of 100 runs for victory.
Bihar’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure in both innings. In the second innings, Vasudev Prasad Singh delivered an impressive spell, claiming five wickets for 43 runs in 15 overs, including two maidens. He received excellent support from Gagan Kumar, who picked up four wickets for just six runs in 4.3 overs, with one maiden.
Chasing the target, Bihar’s openers ensured there were no alarms. Aryan Raj played an aggressive yet measured knock, remaining unbeaten on 56, while Prashant Kumar contributed a composed 41 not out. Their unbroken 100-run partnership guided Bihar to victory without the loss of a wicket.
The emphatic win has strengthened Bihar’s position in the tournament. The collective effort of both batters and bowlers underlined the Under-23 side’s growing consistency and discipline as the competition progresses.
