Railways Cancels and Diverts Trains Ahead of Maha Kumbh 2025: Full List and Details

Patna: The Indian Railways has undertaken extensive preparations to manage the anticipated influx of devotees for the Maha Kumbh in 2025. In light of this, the East Central Railway has cancelled several special trains and rerouted others to ensure smoother operations during the event. This information was shared by Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway.

List of Cancelled Trains

  1. 03253 Patna–Secunderabad Special: Cancelled from 16 to 30 December.
  2. 07255/07256 Secunderabad–Hyderabad–Patna Special: Cancelled from 18 December to 1 January.
  3. 03251 Danapur–SMVB Bengaluru Special: Cancelled from 15 to 30 December.
  4. 03252 SMVB Bengaluru–Danapur Special: Cancelled from 17 December to 1 January.
  5. 03230 Patna–Puri Special: Cancelled from 12 to 26 December.
  6. 03229 Puri–Patna Special: Cancelled from 13 to 27 December.
  7. 03668 Gaya–Patna Special and 03667 Patna–Gaya Special: Cancelled from 12 December to 7 January.

Train Route Diversions

Due to engineering works on bridge numbers 72A, 57A, 62F, 64B, 66B, 71B, and 44A in the Yusufpur–Ghazipur section of Varanasi division, several trains have been rerouted. Key changes include:

  • 09065 Surat–Chhapra Special (9 December 2024): Diverted via Aunrihar–Mau–Ballia.
  • 11061 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus–Jaynagar Express (9 December 2024): Diverted via Prayagraj Chheoki–Varanasi–Jaunpur–Aunrihar–Mau–Ballia, skipping halts at Ghazipur City and Yusufpur.
  • 05135 Chhapra–Aurihar Special (10 December 2024): Diverted via Phephana–Mau–Aunrihar.
  • 11072 Ballia–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express (10 December 2024): Diverted via Phephana–Mau–Aunrihar, skipping the halt at Ghazipur City.
  • 15231 Barauni–Gondia Express (10 December 2024): Diverted via Aunrihar–Mau–Ballia, skipping halts at Ghazipur City and Yusufpur.

Measures for Maha Kumbh and Ongoing Works

The cancellations and diversions are part of broader efforts to ensure a smooth travel experience for devotees during Maha Kumbh. The adjustments also accommodate repair work in the Varanasi Railway Division, which has necessitated changes to train routes.

Passengers are advised to verify train schedules and routes before travel to avoid inconvenience. The railway administration aims to balance the increased demand for Maha Kumbh with operational efficiency and safety.
