Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inspected the ongoing construction of the underground subway and multi-level hub near Patna Junction.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister sought detailed updates from officials regarding the installation of escalators, lifts, entry and exit points, and other passenger amenities within the subway. He also reviewed the overall progress of the construction work.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the completion of the subway project would significantly enhance convenience for commuters accessing Patna Junction. He noted that the facility would alleviate congestion and provide smooth connectivity to the surrounding areas.
Following this, Nitish Kumar inspected the multi-level hub, where officials briefed him on the progress of its construction. He also viewed the development from the GPO Golambar and Hanuman Mandir flyovers.
Under the Smart City project in Patna, the underground subway aims to connect the multi-level hub near GPO Golambar to Patna Junction. This initiative seeks to improve the traffic system around the railway station. The multi-level hub is designed to be a key traffic node, accommodating city buses, autos, taxis, and private car parking.
The subway will link Patna Railway Station with Mahavir Mandir and Buddha Smriti Park, addressing the challenges faced by pedestrians in navigating the congested area.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Anupam Kumar, Secretary Kumar Ravi, District Magistrate of Patna Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, Chairman of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited Shirshat Kapil Ashok, Municipal Commissioner Animesh Parashar, and other senior officials.
