Patna: In the Plate Group of the Vijay Merchant Trophy Under-16 Men’s Multiday Cricket Tournament, Bihar secured a crucial first-innings lead of 28 runs against Tripura. The match, being played at the MGM School of Sports ground in Cuttack, will conclude on Sunday, 8 December.
Tripura began the second day at 190 for 9 but managed to add only three runs before being bowled out for 193. Satyam Raj claimed the final wicket for Bihar, giving his side an opportunity to capitalise with the bat.
Bihar’s response was anchored by half-centuries from Yash and Omkar Kumar. Yash scored a patient 50 off 133 balls, hitting 7 boundaries, while Omkar Kumar provided a brisk 52 off 86 deliveries, including 7 fours and 2 sixes. Contributions from Animesh Raj (23), Ashish Gupta (19), Satyam Raj (20), and Mohit Kumar (21 not out) helped Bihar reach 221 for 8 in 92 overs by the end of the day. Aryan Patel remains unbeaten alongside Mohit Kumar.
For Tripura, the bowling honours were shared by Prithiraj Gop and Mahin, who each claimed two wickets, conceding 40 and 33 runs respectively. Siddharth Devnath also picked up two wickets for 39 runs, while Kishan Sarkar managed one wicket for 55 runs.
With one day remaining, Bihar will aim to build on their lead, while Tripura will look to stage a comeback in what promises to be an exciting finish.
