Bihar Struggle on Day One of Cooch Behar Trophy Against Jharkhand

Patna: On the opening day of the Cooch Behar Trophy match at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Bihar were bowled out for a modest 154 runs in their first innings against Jharkhand. Despite a fifth-wicket partnership of 48 runs between Md Alam and Prithvi Raj, none of the Bihar batsmen managed to make a significant impact.

Jharkhand, in response, were at 56 for the loss of two wickets by the close of play.

Earlier, Jharkhand won the toss and elected to field. Bihar’s innings saw contributions from Satyam Kumar (37), Prithvi Raj (36), and Deepesh Gupta (33), but the rest of the line-up faltered. Anubhav, Gautam, and Aditya Raj were dismissed without scoring, while Ayush Raj added 12, Taufiq scored 10, and Md Alam chipped in with 14. Suman Kumar managed just one run, and Aarav Jha remained unbeaten on 2.

Jharkhand’s bowlers were in fine form, with Tanish claiming 5 wickets, Gaurav taking 4, and Ryan Sapkota grabbing 1.

In reply, Jharkhand had a shaky start, losing their opener for a duck when Satyam Kumar trapped him LBW on the very first ball. Captain Vishesh Dutta departed soon after, caught off Aditya Raj, leaving Jharkhand at 5 for 2. However, a steady partnership between Krish Sharma (unbeaten on 33) and Vivek Kumar (unbeaten on 22) stabilised their innings, guiding them to 56 for 2 at stumps.
