Ramdev Mahto Memorial Open State Taekwondo Championship From December 27

Patna: An important meeting of the Patna District Taekwondo Association was held today at Nishant Regency, Patna, under the chairmanship of Association President, Mr Satish Raju. The meeting primarily focused on preparations for the three-day Fifth Late Ramdev Mahto Memorial Open State Taekwondo Championship, scheduled to take place from 27 to 29 December 2024.

Around 500 players from across Bihar are expected to participate in the championship, which will be hosted at the Ramdev Mahto Community Hall in the Mangal Talab Complex, Patna City. All matches will utilise an advanced electronic scoring system, ensuring transparency and precision. This information was shared by Mr JP Mehta, Secretary of the Patna District Taekwondo Association.

During the meeting, the association unanimously appointed Mr Ratnesh Kushwaha as Vice President and Mr Manish Kumar as Joint Secretary and Media In-charge.

Speaking on the occasion, President Mr Satish Raju emphasised the declining awareness of Taekwondo in contemporary society. He expressed concern over the decreasing number of players and stressed the need to revitalise interest in the sport. “Taekwondo is a sport rooted in ancient traditions, but it is gradually being forgotten. Through this championship, we aim to promote Taekwondo among Bihar’s youth, particularly girls, enabling them to not only learn self-defence but also pursue administrative roles through their training,” he remarked.

The meeting was attended by key office-bearers, including President Mr Satish Raju, Secretary Mr JP Mehta, Treasurer Mr Ravish Raman, Joint Secretaries Mr Kumar Karmaveer and Mr Manish Kumar, and Executive Members Ms Anamika Sonu, Ms Babli Mishra, Mr Rocky Kumar, Mr Shubham Kumar, Mr Akash Pankaj, Mr Shahil Kumar, and Mr Vikas Singh.
