Patna: Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav visited the Ular Surya Mandir in Ular village, Dulhinbazar block, Patna, on Tuesday. Accompanied by his daughter, Pataliputra MP Misa Bharti, Yadav offered prayers at the temple. The arrival of Yadav’s convoy stirred excitement among supporters eager for a glimpse of the RJD supremo.

The temple’s Mahant, Awadh Bihari Das, honoured Yadav and Bharti with garlands and offered them prasad. Following the prayers, Yadav and Bharti inspected the temple grounds and nearby pond to review preparations for the upcoming Chhath Puja festival. Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, who usually joins them for Chhath Puja, was notably absent this time.

RJD MP Misa Bharti remarked that the Ular Surya Mandir is a significant historical site in Patna. She stated that they visited to seek blessings on the occasion of Chhath Puja, a major festival of faith for the people of Bihar. While the visit was not pre-planned, she joined her father to pray for the welfare of Bihar and inspect Chhath Puja arrangements with officials.

“This is a matter of faith, so I won’t comment on specifics, but regardless of which government is in power, some gaps in Chhath Puja preparations always remain,” Bharti noted. However, she expressed satisfaction with the current progress. The temple, known for its antiquity, attracts worshippers from Bihar and neighbouring states for Chhath Puja celebrations.
