Rise in Smuggling of Dry Drugs in Rural Areas Near Patna: Police Seize 2,000 Smack Packets in Bihta

Patna: Since the implementation of the prohibition law in Bihar, the trade of dry drugs has surged, particularly in rural areas surrounding Patna. A recent incident occurred in Bihta, Patna district, where police arrested two individuals during a vehicle check and seized 2,000 packets of smack.

The authorities also confiscated the motorcycle used by the suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rahul Kumar from Rajiv Nagar, Patna, and Manish Kumar from Didarganj. Danapur DSP 2, Pankaj Mishra, provided details of the case during a press conference.

The DSP stated that, following the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), operations are ongoing to curb the illegal drug trade. Bihta police stopped two motorcyclists for a vehicle inspection near the dam at Amanabad village. Upon searching the vehicle, they discovered 2,000 packets of smack weighing a total of 258 grams.

The estimated market value of the seized smack is around ₹6 lakhs. The arrested individuals are residents of Didarganj and Rajiv Nagar in Patna. The police have impounded the motorcycle and are interrogating the suspects to uncover further details. Authorities are also investigating the criminal records of the two individuals.

Following the SSP’s instructions, vehicle inspections were conducted in the Bihta police station area. During the inspection, two motorcyclists were stopped. When asked for vehicle documents, they could not provide them. A search revealed the presence of the smack packets. The total weight of the seized packets was 258 grams.
