Patna: On the third day of the Bihar State Inter-District School Boys Under-17 Athletics Championship, held on Tuesday, the Gaya team continued its dominance, securing 4 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Patna and Siwan shared second place on the medal table, each winning 1 gold and 1 silver.
The championship, organised by the District Administration, Patna, in collaboration with the Bihar Sports Department and the Bihar State Sports Authority, saw Gaya claim the gold medal in the 4×100 metre relay race with a time of 44.95 seconds. Patna took silver with 46.80 seconds, while Buxar secured the bronze with a time of 47.56 seconds. In the 5 km walk, Saurav of Samastipur won gold, finishing in 32:29.85, followed by Alok Kumar of Darbhanga, who claimed silver with 32:50.20. Sanjay Kumar Chaudhary of Sitamarhi won bronze, completing the race in 34:28.58.
In the javelin throw event, held at the Patliputra Sports Complex, Ayush Raj of Saran took gold with a throw of 55.90 metres. Abid Raza of East Champaran earned silver with a throw of 53.05 metres, and Ashish Kumar of Jamui won bronze with 51.60 metres.
Patna’s first gold medal came in the 110 metre hurdles, with Gautam Kumar clocking 16.48 seconds to take the top spot. Abhay Kumar of Jamui secured silver with 17.30 seconds, while Ashish Ranjan of Muzaffarpur won bronze with 17.53 seconds. In the long jump, Pradeep Kumar of Rohtas claimed gold with a leap of 7.02 metres, followed by Prem Raj of Gaya (6.68 metres) who won silver, and Manish Kumar of Bhojpur (6.48 metres) who earned bronze.
