Patna: Subhash Kumar of Aurangabad claimed the gold medal in the 100-metre event of the Bihar State Inter-District School Boys Under-17 Athletics Championship with a remarkable time of 11.17 seconds, earning him the title of the fastest runner in the competition. Ravikant Kumar of Gaya secured the silver medal with a time of 11.55 seconds, while Sartaj Ansari of the Eklavya Training Centre took the bronze with 11.72 seconds.
On the second day of the four-day championship, organised by the District Administration, Patna, under the aegis of the Sports Department, Bihar and Bihar State Sports Authority, Gaya athletes dominated the medal tally with 2 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
In Monday’s track events at Patliputra Sports Complex, Ranjan Raj of Vaishali won gold in the 3000-metre race with a time of 8:49.37, followed by Rohit Kumar of Gaya who secured silver (9:26.97) and Raj Sinha of Bhagalpur who took bronze (9:34.53). The 800-metre event saw Rohit Kumar of Gaya claim gold with a time of 1:58.33, Nirmal Kumar of Bhagalpur take silver (1:58.73), and Roshan Kumar of Gaya secure bronze (2:01.17).
In the high jump, Atul Kumar of Siwan earned gold by clearing 1.68 metres, while Raju Kumar of Bhojpur and Rajkumar of Bhagalpur claimed silver and bronze respectively, both with a height of 1.65 metres.
The discus throw gold went to Devraj of Gaya, while Kumar Vishwajit Pal of Jamui took silver and Viplo Pandey of Nalanda won bronze.
The winners were awarded medals and certificates by Om Prakash, District Sports Officer. Several notable figures, including Dhirendra Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Nirmal Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Manoj Kumar Singh, Manoj Kumar, Sudhanshu Ranjan, and Suraj Kumar, were present at the event.
