Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) launched its membership campaign on Thursday, spearheaded by Tejashwi Yadav at the party office on Veerchand Patel Path. Tejashwi Yadav personally enrolled MLAs, former MLAs, and senior party leaders as part of the drive, setting an ambitious target of recruiting one crore members.

During the launch, Tejashwi emphasised the distinct nature of RJD’s campaign compared to other parties. Without directly naming BJP, he took a dig, saying, “Some parties claim they have a massive membership, but when it comes to elections, they don’t receive as many votes as they boast in membership numbers.”

He highlighted RJD’s inclusive approach, aiming to bring together people of all religions and castes. “Our membership drive is active across Bihar and in other states where RJD has a presence. We will achieve our goal and become the party with the highest number of members in Bihar,” Tejashwi said.

The campaign saw participation from party state president Jagdanand Singh, several MLAs, MLCs, and state officials. Tejashwi reaffirmed that RJD’s focus remains on creating a broad-based support system, ensuring the party gains significant backing from all segments of society. He expressed confidence in the formation of a Mahagathbandhan government in Bihar.

Meanwhile, traffic disruption was reported outside the RJD office due to vehicles parked on the roads. Traffic police issued fines for illegal parking, which led to allegations from RJD that their vehicles were targeted. RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav accused the government of selective action, claiming that while RJD vehicles were fined, those belonging to BJP and JDU leaders remained untouched.

Yadav further warned that if this “one-sided” action continues, RJD would begin documenting and sharing instances of traffic violations by ruling party leaders and administrative officials on social media.
