Patna, July 23: The Simrik Devi Memorial Cricket Series began on Tuesday at Shri Ram Khel Maidan Danapur Ground under the aegis of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation. The tournament was jointly inaugurated by Neeraj Kumar and Pratibha Devi. Foundation founder Santosh Tiwari welcomed the guests while Secretary Naveen Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
On the first day of the series, Shri Ram Khel Maidan and Pataliputra Patriots emerged victorious in their respective matches.
In the Under-15 category, the first match was played between Learning School of Cricket and Shri Ram Khel Maidan. Learning School of Cricket won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, Shri Ram Khel Maidan scored 136 runs for 6 wickets in the stipulated 25 overs. In reply, Learning School of Cricket was all out for 112 runs in 20 overs, resulting in a 24-run victory for Shri Ram Khel Maidan. Rupesh was awarded the Man of the Match.
In the Under-12 category, the first match saw Pataliputra Patriots face off against Magadh Front Runners. Pataliputra Patriots won the toss and chose to bat, scoring 112 runs in 25 overs. In response, Magadh Front Runners were all out for 74 runs. Hariom received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance.
