Patna: Patna witnessed the grand Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra on Sunday, with the procession starting from the ISKCON temple. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha inaugurated the event by performing aarti of Lord Jagannath, Lord Baldev, and Goddess Subhadra. In a display of humility and devotion, he also cleaned the road with a broom and helped pull the chariot forward.
Devotees and Enthusiasm
The Rath Yatra attracted devotees from all over the country and even saw participation from international guests. The fervor of the devotees was palpable, with many women cleaning the road with brooms and their pallus. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as participants danced and sang in devotion to Lord Krishna.
Procession Route and Activities
The Rath Yatra commenced from the ISKCON temple, passing through JD Women’s College, Dak Bungalow via Taramandal High Court, and then returning to the ISKCON temple. Throughout the journey, prasad was distributed to the devotees, and aarti was performed at various points. Flowers were showered along the route, adding to the festive spirit. Near the ISKCON temple, Mahaprasad was distributed, and the night concluded with bhajan kirtan at the temple.
Chariot Details and Safety Measures
The chariot for this year’s Rath Yatra was a spectacular 40-feet hydraulic structure adorned with flowers from Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Thailand, carrying the deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Baldev, and Goddess Subhadra. To ensure safety, electricity was cut off along the procession route to prevent any untoward incidents.
Deputy CM’s Remarks
Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha highlighted the significance of the Rath Yatra, noting its celebration across the country and its particular resonance in Patna, reminiscent of the famous Jagannath Puri Yatra. He expressed hopes for the nation’s progress and emphasized that such events foster love and goodwill among the people.
