Patna: Hotel Kautilya Vihar, located in R Block and operated by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation, is set to reopen for tourists by the end of October following extensive renovations. Tourists will enjoy four-star level amenities at the newly revamped hotel.

Originally scheduled to be completed in nine months at a cost of over Rs 9 crore, the renovation has faced delays and is now expected to finish after more than a year. The primary reason for the delay, according to sources, is the repeated design changes—four times within the year.

The renovated hotel will feature 63 air-conditioned rooms, including suites on the first floor and two deluxe rooms on the first and second floors. Additional facilities include a reception counter, restaurant, meeting hall, and banquet hall equipped with luxurious and modern technology. The interior work is projected to be completed within three months, ensuring the hotel’s reopening by the end of October. Officials attribute the delay to ongoing interior work.

Specialized workers are involved in the renovation: carpenters from Kolkata, plumbers from Odisha, and artisans from Bihar are handling the civil work. The interior work has been contracted to Orange Interior, while Alok Construction Company is responsible for the civil work.

Previously, Hotel Kautilya Vihar had become dilapidated, with damp rooms and a closed restaurant, deterring tourists. The old building had 40 rooms, 23 of which were used as hotel rooms, and the rest housed the office of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation. Of these rooms, 17 were air-conditioned, and six were non-air-conditioned, with one suite and a 22-bed dormitory on the first and second floors. The office of the Tourism Corporation is currently operating from Sikh Heritage located at Daroga Path.

Nand Kishore, Managing Director of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation, confirmed that the renovation work is complete, and the interior work is ongoing. He assured that the hotel would open on time and provide tourists with all modern amenities, aligning with four-star standards.
