Bhabua, June 20: Patna defeated Jamui by 16 runs to secure a spot in the semifinals of the BCA Shyamal Sinha Under-16 Inter District Cricket Tournament on Thursday.
In the match played at the local Jagjivan Stadium, hosted by the Kaimur District Cricket Association, Patna won the toss and chose to bat first. They posted a total of 242 runs, losing all their wickets in the allotted 40 overs. Anmol Kumar top-scored with a brilliant 75 runs off 80 balls, while Rohit Pandey contributed 53 runs off 55 balls, and Piyush Kumar added a quick 59 runs off 38 balls. Dharamveer chipped in with 25 runs, and Ayan Ritesh added 10 runs.
For Jamui, Sumit Kumar bowled exceptionally well, taking 6 wickets for 43 runs. Ayush Raj, Ravi Kishan, and Lakshya each took 1 wicket.
Chasing 242 runs, Jamui managed to score 226 runs, falling short by 16 runs, and were all out in 38.1 overs. Nishu Yadav played a commendable innings, scoring 81 runs off 98 balls. Sumit Kumar scored 25 runs off 34 balls, Shivam Raj added 24 runs off 17 balls, Dipanshu made 19 runs off 16 balls, and Ayush Raj contributed 18 runs off 23 balls.
For Patna, Kartik Pandey took 3 wickets for 40 runs, Piyush Kumar claimed 2 wickets for 38 runs, and Prince Dubey and Divyanshu each took 1 wicket.
Anmol Kumar was awarded the Player of the Match trophy by Kaimur DCA Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh for his outstanding batting performance.
