Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on September 15, 2026 reviewed the schemes being implemented by the Rural Works Department at a meeting held at the Sankalp Sabhagar in Lok Sevak Awas. He directed officials to ensure that all projects are completed on time while maintaining quality standards.
During the review, Rural Works Department secretary Abhay Kumar Singh gave a detailed presentation on ongoing and proposed schemes. He briefed the Chief Minister on the Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana, Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana (Residual), Mukhyamantri Gramin Setu Yojana, Sulabh Samparkta Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, besides measures for strengthening and managing rural roads.
Choudhary said the development of villages and improving public amenities were among the government’s priorities. He said timely and quality construction of roads, bridges, basic infrastructure and other projects under the Rural Works Department would not only make life easier for people in rural areas but also give a boost to the rural economy.
He said the government had prioritised rural development since the beginning and was spending substantial amounts on the construction and maintenance of rural roads.
The Chief Minister directed the department to ensure continuous monitoring of roads to maintain connectivity with villages. He also ordered officials to assess roads and bridges damaged during the floods and complete repair work at the earliest to ensure smooth movement of people.
Choudhary instructed officials to complete all schemes being undertaken by the Rural Works Department on a priority basis. Stressing the importance of road maintenance, he directed officials to ensure proper upkeep of rural roads and take steps to protect them from heavy traffic.
Rural Works Minister Sunil Kumar, Chief Minister’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar, chief secretary Pratyay Amrit, principal secretary of the Finance Department Vinay Kumar, Chief Minister’s secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, Rural Works Department secretary Abhay Kumar Singh and Chief Minister’s secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, among other senior officials, attended the meeting.
