Patna: Mirzapur: The Movie, the big-screen adaptation of the popular streaming series, has made a strong start at the Indian box office. The film, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Ravi Kishan, earned an estimated Rs 24.75 crore nett across India on its opening day, September 4 .
This performance has secured the film the fourth-highest opening day collection among Hindi films released in 2026 . According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, the Hindi version of the film contributed Rs 24.60 crore nett, while the Telugu-dubbed version added approximately Rs 15 lakh .
The film’s estimated India gross collection for the day stands at roughly Rs 29.70 crore . Some reports place the India net collection at Rs 25.15 crore and the worldwide gross at Rs 33.68 crore .
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film was released on September 4 in Hindi and a Telugu-dubbed version . It was screened across 11,135 shows on its opening day .
The film recorded an overall theatre occupancy of 42.81%, with audience numbers growing steadily through the day . Morning shows registered 25.85% occupancy, which rose to 41.15% in the afternoon and 41.85% in the evening . The strongest response came during the night shows, which recorded an occupancy of approximately 62.38% .
Regional performance varied, with Delhi-NCR showing 54.3% occupancy across 1,249 shows, while Mumbai recorded 30.8% occupancy from 818 shows . The film also performed strongly in the Lucknow circuit, registering 74.3% occupancy .
With this opening, Mirzapur: The Movie has surpassed the first-day collections of Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2, which opened at Rs 22 crore nett . The film currently sits behind the top three openers of 2026: Dhurandhar The Revenge (Rs 99 crore), Toxic (Rs 55 crore), and Border 2 (approximately Rs 30 crore) .
The film is produced by Excel Entertainment and features an ensemble cast including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya and Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit. It has received an ‘A’ certification from the Central Board of Film Certification .
The transition of the Mirzapur franchise from streaming platform Prime Video to cinemas has resulted in a significant theatrical debut. Industry estimates now project the film could earn between Rs 80 crore and Rs 85 crore nett over its opening weekend .
