Bihar State Powerlifting Association organised a Press conference in Patna on August 4, 2026.

Patna: The 38th Bihar State Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior Classic Powerlifting Championship, along with the Open Classic Bench Press (Men), Open Women’s Classic Powerlifting and Open Equipped Powerlifting Championship 2026, will be held from August 7 to 9 at Arya Kanya Vidyalaya, Bari Path, Patna, under the aegis of the Bihar State Powerlifting Association (BSPA).
More than 300 male and female powerlifters from various districts across Bihar are expected to compete in the three-day state-level event. The championship aims to promote the sport of powerlifting in the state, prepare athletes for national and international competitions, and provide young lifters with a platform to showcase their talent.
The following dignitaries will attend the championship as chief guests and encourage the participating athletes: Sanjeev Chaurasia, MLA, Digha Assembly constituency and President of the Bihar State Powerlifting Association; Sita Sahu, Mayor of Patna Municipal Corporation; Ratnesh Kumar Kushwaha, MLA, Patna Sahib Assembly constituency and Sanjay Gupta, MLA, Kumhrar Assembly constituency.
During a press conference, Ashok Kumar Mehta, Secretary of the Bihar State Powerlifting Association and an international-level powerlifter himself, shared detailed information about the preparations and organisation of the championship.
Also present were Rajiv Bhargava, GET Coordinator of Lions Club of Patna Magadh and District President, along with Vivek Kumar Gupta and Chandan Kumar Singh, both international-level powerlifters. The Bihar State Powerlifting Association has appealed to sports enthusiasts, athletes, parents and members of the media to attend the prestigious state-level championship, support the participants and help make the event a success.
