Samrat Choudhary Says Bihar Government Belongs to People, Public Service and Development Are Top Priorities

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Samrat Choudhary on Sunday attended a felicitation ceremony organised jointly by the All India Kanu Halwai Vichar Manch, Bihar, and the Banshi Chacha Social Development Council, Bihar, at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall. The Chief Minister formally inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the government in Bihar belongs neither to an individual nor to an alliance, but to the people. He said every minister and legislator serves as a public representative, adding that every day and every hour of the government is dedicated to the development of Bihar and the welfare of its citizens. He announced that the state government aims to identify one crore Below Poverty Line (BPL) families and provide them with ration cards before March 31, 2027. He also said the government has set a target of installing rooftop solar systems on 25 lakh homes to ensure an uninterrupted power supply.

The Chief Minister said a University of Architecture and Civil Engineering is being established in Muzaffarpur in the name of freedom fighter Shaheed Jubba Sahni. He noted that even after 78 years of Independence, Bihar had only 278 degree colleges. However, on July 15, the state government began academic sessions simultaneously in 211 newly established degree colleges. He said that regular classes would commence in all the new colleges within the next 10 days, supported by the recruitment of 3,000 professors on a contractual basis.

Samrat Choudhary said that 583,000 applications have so far been received through the Sahyog Camps and the Sahyog Portal, of which 533,000 have already been resolved. To ensure accountability, first notices have been issued to 9,000 officials for negligence, second notices to 350 officials, and third notices to four officials. He stressed that every application must be disposed of within 30 days. He also claimed that Bihar is the first state in the country to provide the highest electricity subsidy to consumers. Of the state’s 1.9 crore domestic electricity consumers, 1.7 crore have been receiving up to 125 units of free electricity every month for the past year. Families keeping their monthly consumption within 125 units will receive congratulatory letters from the government.

The Chief Minister announced that the government would acquire land as required for the comprehensive development of the Baba Ganinath Ji Maharaj Temple at Palvaiya Dham and extend all possible official support. Over the next five years, improved road connectivity to Palvaiya Dham will be developed through the Marine Drive project. He also said connectivity from Sonepur to Mokama would be enhanced via the Ganga Ambika Path by linking five bridges up to the Raghopur Bridge.

He urged the Kanu-Halwai community to remain united and continue contributing to Bihar’s development, assuring them of the government’s full support. He said the demands submitted by the All India Kanu Halwai Vichar Manch would be discussed seriously with its delegation before a decision is taken. The Chief Minister also promised that illegal encroachments on the land of poor and vulnerable families would be identified and their property restored. He assured members of the Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) that they need not fear anyone, as the government remains fully committed to protecting their rights.

Samrat Choudhary said that before 2005, members of the Vaishya community and many others were compelled to migrate from Bihar, but under the NDA government the state has witnessed significant transformation and economic strengthening. He added that under the Social Security Pension Scheme, pension payments are directly transferred to the bank accounts of 1 crore 12 lakh beneficiaries on the 10th of every month.

Tourism Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta and BJP Bihar President Sanjay Saraogi also addressed the gathering. During the programme, the organisers felicitated the Chief Minister with a bouquet, ceremonial shawl, mace, memento and flower garlands. Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Ramchandra Prasad, MP Sanjay Jaiswal, MLAs Pramod Kumar, Arun Kumar and Chhoti Kumari, along with representatives of the Kanu-Halwai community, office-bearers of various social organisations and other dignitaries, were also present at the event.
