Patna: One of the year’s most eagerly awaited films, Bantwara 1947, has been produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The much-talked-about historical drama is set to be released in cinemas on August 14, 2026.
Following the overwhelming response to its powerful trailer, the film’s cast has stepped up promotional activities. On August 2, Sunny Deol arrived in Patna with his son, Karan Deol, to promote Bantwara 1947. During their visit, the duo offered prayers and sought blessings at Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib Gurdwara before taking part in promotional events, where they interacted with the media and fans.

Bantwara 1947 tells the story of the pain and human emotions surrounding the Partition of India. The film conveys messages of love, sacrifice, courage and hope in the face of adversity. The cast includes Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh in key roles. A major highlight of the project is the reunion of director Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol, who have teamed up again after nearly 30 years following their successful collaborations.

Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, the film is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The music has been composed by AR Rahman, while the lyrics have been written by Javed Akhtar. The film has been produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
