Patna: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday inaugurated several major education and police infrastructure projects in Tarapur, Munger district, describing them as significant steps towards the region’s development. He formally opened a group of upgraded government schools selected under the Saraswati Vidya Niketan (Model School) initiative in the Tarapur Assembly constituency.
The model schools have been equipped with smart classrooms, modern science laboratories, computer labs, digital learning facilities and well-stocked libraries. Schools upgraded under the scheme include +2 Kisan Vaidik High School, Launa (Tarapur), Upgraded Higher Secondary School, Ganaili, R.N.M. High School, Rangram, Sita Devi Jagmohan Sah +2 Girls’ High School, Asarganj, Upgraded Higher Secondary School, Chakhand, Rani Prabhavati High School, Sangrampur, Public High School, Barhauniya, +2 High School, Manjhgaon, Panch Kumari Girls’ High School, Haveli Kharagpur, and Gandhi Memorial +2 High School, Muzaffarganj, among others.
The Chief Minister inspected the smart classrooms, science laboratories, library and classrooms on the school campus. He also interacted with students to enquire about their studies and directed officials to ensure the delivery of quality education.
Later, Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the newly constructed model police station building at Harpur in Tarapur block. After the inauguration, he inspected the facility and reviewed the amenities provided. Officials informed him that the station includes public hearing facilities, records management, a surveillance control room, dedicated rooms for women and children, wireless communication facilities and a computer room, along with all other essential infrastructure.
The Chief Minister said the state government is continuously working to modernise, strengthen and make the police system more citizen-friendly. He said the construction of modern police stations, police lines, training centres and other police infrastructure would further improve law and order, enhance crime control and strengthen the police force’s ability to respond swiftly.
Choudhary also inaugurated academic activities at the newly established Government Degree College on the campus of Ramanand and Parsi Ram High School at Jalalabad in Asarganj.

Addressing the gathering, he said that under the Saat Nischay-3 programme, the state government’s objective is to establish a degree college in every block so that students from rural areas can access higher education close to their homes. He thanked the people of Tarapur for electing him as their MLA and assured them that he would honour the trust they had placed in him. He added that the promise to establish the Asarganj Degree College had now been fulfilled. With the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the NDA leadership, Bihar’s development agenda was being implemented at a rapid pace, he said.
The Chief Minister said that in the past, children from economically weaker families were often unable to prepare for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE due to financial constraints and limited resources. He said the government was now expanding access to higher education and quality teaching in every block. He added that teaching had recently commenced in 211 new government degree colleges across the state, taking the total number to 212.
He further announced that degree colleges would be opened in all B.Ed colleges across Bihar in a phased manner. Every block would be provided with live classroom facilities, while a digital application would allow students to receive online guidance from teachers even at 11 pm. He also announced that government schools would observe half-day classes on Saturdays and said greater emphasis would be placed on sports alongside academics to ensure the all-round development of students. The playground opposite the Asarganj school would also be developed.
Samrat Choudhary said industries would be established in Tarapur and an international-standard airport would be developed in the region, adding that the land acquisition process had already begun. He said the projects would generate employment opportunities for local youth within Bihar and help transform Munger and Tarapur into new centres of development.
He also described the annual Kanwar Yatra from Sultanganj to Baba Dham as a remarkable example of social harmony. Devotees, dressed in identical attire, walk more than 100 kilometres to offer holy water at the Baidyanath temple, demonstrating a rare spirit of equality and unity, he said.
Among those present on the occasion were Director General of Police Vinay Kumar, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, Chief Minister’s Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, Divisional Commissioner Prem Singh Meena, Munger Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Rakesh Kumar, Additional Director General of Police-cum-Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation Pankaj Kumar Darad, District Magistrate Nikhil Dhanraj Nippanikar, Superintendent of Police Syed Imran Masood, Munger University Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Sanjay Kumar, public representatives, senior officials and a large number of local residents.
