Sitamarhi: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary chaired a review meeting on the construction of the Punauradham Temple and the overall development of the surrounding area. The meeting was held at the temple premises in Punauradham, located in Sitamarhi district.
During the session, District Magistrate Richa Pandey made a detailed presentation on the progress of the proposed Maa Janaki Punauradham Temple project. She outlined plans to improve connectivity from major cities to Punauradham, along with the development of pilgrim facilities, including a yatri suvidha kendra, auditorium, sanctum sanctorum, and Sitakund. She also highlighted proposals for a built-up area, project plans prepared by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation, residences for priests, VIP and guest accommodations, the status of railway stations, restoration of Mata Janaki’s birth site complex, master planning, security arrangements, and the proposed Sitapuram satellite township.
The District Magistrate informed the Chief Minister that soil testing and survey work had been completed, while barricading work was currently in progress. She added that the sanctum and the sacred kund within the temple complex would also be developed.
During the review, the Samrat Choudhary directed officials to ensure that the construction of the Maa Janaki Punauradham Temple is completed by December 31, 2028 under all circumstances. He stressed the need for high-quality execution and close monitoring of the project. He further stated that a well-planned township would be developed in an organised manner.
CM Samrat Chaudhary also instructed that all sites associated with the life of Mata Sita should be linked to Punauradham, enabling devotees to stay for a few days and undertake pilgrimage and darshan. Referring to suggestions made by the temple mahant regarding the Lakshmana River, he directed that appropriate measures be taken accordingly.

Prior to the review meeting, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the Maa Janaki Temple and at the manifestation site of Maa Janaki (Maa Sita Udbhav Kund), praying for peace, prosperity and well-being of the state. He also inspected the model of the proposed temple.
The Chief Minister was welcomed by local public representatives, leaders, district administration officials and members of the temple management committee with bouquets, traditional angvastra and mementoes.
Union Minister of State S.P. Singh Baghel, MPs Devesh Chandra Thakur and Gopalji Thakur, BJP state president and MLA Sanjay Saraogi, along with several MLAs, senior officials, and local residents were present on the occasion.
