Ahmedabad: Chandigarh’s Yuvraj Sandhu continued his winning streak in style, securing his second consecutive title with a commanding five-shot victory at the Gujarat Open Golf Championship 2025. The 27-year-old displayed exceptional form in the final round, carding a flawless seven-under 65—the best score of the day—at the Glade One Golf Resort & Club in Ahmedabad.
With a total score of 17-under 199, Sandhu, who also triumphed in the season-opener in Kolkata last week, remains unbeaten in the 2025 PGTI season. Delhi’s Saptak Talwar finished runner-up at 12-under 204 after a strong final-round performance of 67.
The tournament was played over 54 holes, with the first two rounds consisting of nine holes each and the last two rounds featuring full 18-hole games. Sandhu, who held a one-shot lead overnight, wasted no time in extending his advantage, sinking seven birdies in a bogey-free round. He started strong with birdies on the first two holes and continued his momentum, making crucial putts from distances of 8 to 15 feet. By the time he reached the back nine, his lead was unassailable, and he cruised to his 11th career title and eighth PGTI victory.
This win makes Sandhu the first player in over two years to claim back-to-back PGTI titles—a feat last achieved by Manu Gandas in December 2022. With his latest triumph, he also secured the winner’s prize of ₹15 lakh, further strengthening his position at the top of the TATA Steel PGTI rankings.
Reflecting on his victory, Sandhu said, “At the start of the day, I was just focused on my goal of back-to-back wins. I was a little nervous but wanted to make a strong statement. I’m heading home very happy and grateful to my coaches and support team. The hospitality at Glade One and PGTI made this a fantastic experience for all of us.”
He also credited his playing partner and long-time roommate, Arjun Prasad, for keeping the mood light during the round. “We were chatting from tee to green, sharing food, and having fun. Arjun played some great golf this week, and I wish him all the best,” Sandhu added.
Runner-up Saptak Talwar made a late surge, mixing six birdies with a bogey to secure his second PGTI runner-up finish. Delhi’s Kshitij Naveed Kaul and Arjun Prasad shared third place at nine-under 207. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad’s own Varun Parikh finished tied 44th at five-over 221.
With two wins in two weeks, Sandhu has set a high bar for the season—can anyone catch up?
